TRX ATM volatility rises as butterfly premium widens

D DERIVASYS Focused research note TRX ATM volatility rises as butterfly premium widens TRX’s higher ATM volatility and wider weekly butterfly premium distinguish it from falling matched-tenor ATM volatility in HYPE and AVAX. The adjustment extends to TRX’s monthly ATM volatility, while weekly RR25 deepens an existing downside bias. XRP presents a different split: weekly ATM volatility rises, monthly ATM volatility barely changes, and skew adjustments run in opposite directions across those tenors. Derivasys Research Report date 04 Nov 2026 Market snapshot 04 Nov 2026 · 17:31 UTC Native current-observation time Coverage XRP, HYPE, AVAX, TRX Assets represented in supplied data Comparison snapshot 03 Nov 2026 · 17:31 UTC Native prior-observation time The reading What the evidence says TRX’s volatility repricing extends beyond the weekly tenor. Over the native crypto comparison window, 1W ATM IV rose by +5.51 vol points [1] to 30.96% [2] , while 1M ATM IV increased by +5.34 vol points [3] to 27.24% [4] . Ordered ATM endpoints show an inverted curve: 1W exceeds 2W, whose ATM IV reached 28.81% [5] after rising by +6.63 vol points [6] , and 2W exceeds 1M. TRX’s 1W BF25 widened by +0.69 vol points [7] to 1.72 vol points [8] , indicating a larger average wing premium relative to ATM. That butterfly adjustment is strongest at 1W: 2W BF25 rose by +0.42 vol points [9] to 1.79 vol points [10] , whereas 1M BF25 edged up by +0.05 vol points [11] to 1.77 vol points [12] . Directional pricing is less uniform. TRX’s 1W RR25 changed by -0.22 vol points [13] to -0.70 vol points [14] , deepening an existing downside bias; its 1M RR25 instead rose by +2.67 vol points [15] to -0.29 vol points [16] , reducing, but retaining, the monthly downside bias. Matched 1M comparisons sharpen the distinction across the cohort. HYPE’s 1M ATM IV changed by -3.16 vol points [17] to 62.71% [18] , and AVAX’s changed by -1.80 vol points [19] to 68.11% [20] . Their 1W ATM IV also changed: HYPE by -2.34 vol points [21] to 66.84% [22] , and AVAX by -5.03 vol points [23] to 67.57% [24] . XRP’s 1W ATM IV rose by +1.97 vol points [25] to 53.29% [26] , but its 1M ATM IV changed by -0.13 vol points [27] to 54.95% [28] . Across the weekly and monthly tenors compared here, XRP’s ATM IV rose at 1W while slipping at 1M. Its skew adjustment spans those maturities with opposite directions: 1W RR25 rose by +1.65 vol points [29] to 5.48 vol points [30] , whereas 1M RR25 changed by -0.80 vol points [31] to 2.24 vol points [32] . HYPE’s 1W RR25 changed by -3.24 vol points [33] to -0.12 vol points [34] , crossing from positive to negative, while 1M RR25 changed by -0.98 vol points [35] to a still-positive 3.16 vol points [36] . AVAX’s 1W RR25 increased by +0.25 vol points [37] to 3.15 vol points [38] , while 1M RR25 changed by -0.16 vol points [39] to 4.01 vol points [40] . Butterfly premiums also resist a common cohort narrative. XRP’s 1W BF25 changed by -0.26 vol points [41] to 1.51 vol points [42] , its 2W BF25 changed by -0.07 vol points [43] to 1.87 vol points [44] , and its 1M BF25 increased by +0.09 vol points [45] to 2.36 vol points [46] . HYPE’s BF25 changed across the supplied tenors: 1W by -0.51 vol points [47] to 0.87 vol points [48] , 2W by -0.39 vol points [49] to 1.08 vol points [50] , and 1M by -0.27 vol points [51] to 1.32 vol points [52] . AVAX’s BF25 was nearly unchanged at 1W, moving by -0.02 vol points [53] to 2.09 vol points [54] , and at 2W, moving by +0.02 vol points [55] to 2.21 vol points [56] ; its 1M premium widened by +0.14 vol points [57] to 2.44 vol points [58] . Spot and realized volatility qualify the options interpretation. TRX’s spot return over the crypto comparison window was -0.82% [59] , against trailing realized volatility of 82.00% [60] ; its forward 1W ATM IV minus trailing realized volatility was -51.04 vol points [61] . HYPE’s spot return was -1.94% [62] , realized volatility was 99.25% [63] , and its corresponding 1W IV-minus-RV spread was -32.41 vol points [64] . AVAX’s spot return was +3.66% [65] , realized volatility was 77.31% [66] , and its 1W IV-minus-RV spread was -9.74 vol points [67] . XRP’s spot return was +2.10% [68] , realized volatility was 57.64% [69] , and its 1W IV-minus-RV spread was -4.35 vol points [70] . On the common trailing RV window, every asset’s forward 1W ATM IV sits below realized volatility. TRX’s rising 1W ATM IV therefore coexists with a negative IV-minus-RV spread, rather than establishing expensive forward protection. The contrasting 1W ATM changes in TRX and HYPE despite negative spot returns, and in XRP and AVAX despite positive spot returns, also argue against treating spot direction as a sufficient explanation. TRX’s 1M ATM increase has historical support as a large individual move: its absolute change ranks at 96.4th percentile [71] within the eligible full captured history, 56 observations (observed sampling; 05 Sep 2026–03 Nov 2026) [71] . This concerns the magnitude of a monthly-tenor volatility change over the crypto comparison interval, not the historical rank of the IV level or of the combined cross-asset configuration. The macro backdrop offers a possible financing channel but no explanation for the measured divergence: The Guardian reported stronger UK services activity and input costs alongside expectations of tightening during the news window. Such pressures could affect risk appetite broadly, yet do not account for TRX’s rising 1M ATM IV alongside falling HYPE and AVAX 1M ATM IV. The central watch is whether TRX retains its inverted ATM endpoints and wider 1W butterfly premium. Separately, XRP’s opposing weekly and monthly RR25 changes and HYPE’s weekly skew sign crossing test whether the supporting cross-asset distinctions persist. Qualifications and limits Historical ranks describe eligible observed changes within their stated capture bounds; gaps and selection can bias them, and individual ranks do not establish joint cross-asset rarity. Native crypto endpoints, news publication times and traditional-market session closes are distinct clocks; chronology does not identify a cause or investor positioning. Trailing RV is recomputed from retained canonical minute prices using annualized mean squared log returns under the coverage policy, with complete observed-return coverage here. Forward 1W IV and trailing RV span different periods; their difference is descriptive and establishes neither a forecast nor a trading edge. BF25 measures the average wing premium relative to ATM, not absolute wing IV or direction. Unsupported longer tenors and a listed-expiry removal limit extrapolation beyond the comparable surface. Independent event attribution remains unresolved. Verified market snapshot Current levels and changes over each recorded native interval.
